Linking your Aadhaar card and PAN card ( Aadhar Pan Link) is a straight forward process that can be done online through the official websites of the Income Tax Department and UIDAI. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
Visit the Income Tax Department e-filing portal: https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home
Under the ‘Quick Links’ section, click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option.
Enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar.
If only the birth year is mentioned on your Aadhaar card, tick the box saying ‘I have only year of birth in Aadhaar card’.
Enter the captcha code and click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ button.
If the details entered by you match with the details on the Aadhaar database, your Aadhaar card will be linked to your PAN card.
Note: Make sure that your name, date of birth, and gender on your PAN card match with the details on your Aadhaar card, otherwise linking will fail.
Alternatively, you can also link your Aadhaar card and PAN card through SMS. To do this, follow these steps:
Send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format: UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit Aadhaar number><SPACE><10 digit PAN number>
If the details provided by you match with the details on the Aadhaar database, your Aadhaar card will be linked to your PAN card.
